Spring Kansas Toms
I had a great Spring Turkey season. I harvested two great Toms with two different selfbows. Shot one with my TradeBow made by my Buddy Mike Hames. That bird weighed 25# 2oz, had an eleven inch beard and inch and 7/16 spurs. The second Tom, I killed with an unfinished bow. This tom weighed 25# 6 oz, ...

Re: Pig's Getting Careless
Four years now. I killed his Daddy 5 years ago to get him out of the gene pool and Pig was a year and a half old horse already. He got the nickname because of his sheer mass, deep tracks, and the fact that he like to hang out near feeders. He has a son out there to take his place. Of Course he's cal...

Re: Cold
I will add this to the discussion on cold. On the 18th, it got up to around 13 degrees in the afternoon, so that seemed just right to hit the woods. By 5:00 the temp was dropping like a rock. I put an arrow through a doe around 5:30. She ran off with most of the business end of my cedar shaft sticki...

Same here Dennis, only 69 adds more squeaks to the noise level. Right shoulder is no good for most things, however I can still pull a bowstring and that's kinda important to me.

Cold
Ladies and Gentlemen. If you are located in the cold, be extremely careful. We're enduring temps that are dangerous. Our wind has layed some up here to some extent. However, the ambient temp this morning was 10 below zero. Yesterday we had some windchills in the minus 30's. That's not to be taken li...

Day before Thanksgiving I finally got to pull the string back on "Heritage" an Osage Selfbow built by my Buddy Todd Weldon. Year's ago, I helped Todd build his first bow. He has progressed into a fine Bowyer. The bow he built me is 55" nock to nock and 53# @ 27 inches. A beautiful and functions bow....

Dennis, I had the wind right yesterday and got into it around 4:00. Till about 5:30 it was hot, with a slight breeze every once and a while. By 6 it was nice. I'm gonna like it when it gets cold.

Here's a pic of one of my shooters, Mr. Pig, a huge 3x3 that I've been watching for several years. Now I have at least two young 3x3s showing up on cameras. I feel it may be necessary to put the old warrior down. Do you think there may be some common DNA in the two? Finally the guy that may have sta...

What Did I Do Yesterday.
Got a call, my Triticale seed came in. Drove 15 miles to pick up the two 50# bags. Threw em in the back of my Silverado that had my tractor and mower loaded up. Drove 12 miles to the farm. Mowed a strip near the road that was about a quarter mile long. Unhooked the mower. Hooked up the disc. Ran the...

Re: Round Bale Blind
I placed the shooting window using a 59 inch bow. I normally shoot shorter than that, so it should be fine. I did add a square more on the vertical on the left hand side. Inspected it in place today and back was higher giving me a poor angle so I remedied that problem. Here it is in place.
