WTB Copperhead Skins

Making a 64" osage self bow and wanted to see if anyone out there has some copperhead skins. I know they're hard to come by but I'm going to try anyway. Thanks.

Night wing

I was told 4 months and it's going on 7. Plus I have the issue with there always being "something else" that he's waiting on...or something that "didn't come in yet".

Mark,

As always you offer sage advice. I'm trying to be as patient as I can it's just hard when I dont hear anything from him. I will keep patient and see what's happening. Thanks again...and you've got quite the car on your hands...the "halfs" are hard to come by. :77:

Custom bowyer quoted time...

All, I was fortunate enough to contact a custom bowyer and request a takedown recurve to be built for me. I wanted a cocobolo riser sandwiching bubinga, bubinga backing, and canebrake skins on the limbs. He quoted me december of last year that it would be complete....it's March...and I call and it's...

DIY Montana

All, Was browsing the Montana FWP website for a few weeks and thought I would ask if anyone out there has any experience hunting in Montana for elk/deer? I'd be happy to talk anyone's ear off who would let me. Also wanted to know if anyone has some old montana outdoors or FWP publications they would...

Re: Trying to get better...

Night & Bounty, Do you tune with bare shaft groups?? I think it's called the "planning" method?? Where you tune the bare shaft group by where they hit in relation to your fletched arrows? I hope this isn't too broad a question. Thanks again for the input...still messing with the spine calc.

Re: Trying to get better...

All, I've heard (probably from a thread around here) that it's tough for those starting out to tune arrows because they haven't developed their form. How do you know if you have enough form to start tuning arrows?? I was contemplating this pulling arrows out of my target today (and some out of the d...

Mark,

I've never looked at it that way...a sincere thank you.

Nightwing,

They're the Alaska Bowhunting carbons (grizzly sticks). I will keep looking....I'm thinking of trying wood though

Nightwing, Thanks for the link to the spine calculator...you wouldn't happen to know where I could find specs on the ABS arrows...i'll keep digging and see what comes up. Thanks again! Re: Trying to get better...

All, I do appreciate the advice and encouragement. I think I need to fine tune the arrows still and keep tinkering with the bow, AND nail form. I remember when I first loosed my some arrows with it I think I grouped two feet at 10 yards.... So I think I'm getting somewhere! I did manage to mis...

Trying to get better...

All, Still fairly new to this traditional thing I'm wondering what size groups (say at 20 yards) ya'll shoot. Also what is a distance you wont shoot over? I know it's all about getting as close as you can, but I'm just trying to gauge my skill and why am I missing the target once or twice every 50 s...

Bowyer contact.

All,

I'm trying to get ahold of Tim Mullins from Acadian Woods and talk bows. It's been a few days and haven't heard back...is he still building? Does anyone know a good way to get ahold of him?? Thanks.

Re: Season is GETTING close | Scent Use

Bryan, Is it about that time!! I really can't say enough for tink's scents and lures. I love making a mock scrap if I find good buck sign in the area, such as other scrapes and rubs, and throwing their trophy buck lure in it for around pre-rut. I really think they don't like the competition. It's re...

Re: This morning's tuning shoot....

All, Thanks again for the help. I will be looking into carbon/wood arrows, my father-in-law Gary said it was really hard for him to get aluminum tuned (from a guy who said he shot fiberglass!!). Again I'm grateful for the help! Anyone want some Eastons cut to 28&1/2??? One is bare shaft and ten are ...

Re: This morning's tuning shoot....

I believe it's to the center-line of the bow. The side plate is a 1/16th piece of leather. I called three rivers and they agreed with you kirkll...too much spine...I'm even overdrawing the bow and they barely hit center (still nock right an inch). I'm going to go a step down in weight and start them...

This morning's tuning shoot....

All, So I picked up some Easton Gamegetters 2117's in the 400's. Oh...the Bow is a Bear Grizzly 58" 50# @ 28". Had them cut at 28&1/2 inches. The gr. for the shaft is about 342 plus a field point of 145 for a grand total of 487. I draw about 28 give or take a 1/8th. I have my shafts set perpendicula...
