Re: Lyman Deerstalker loads?

Sorry...50 caliber. Shot a couple miniballs today. I'm hitting an inch high at 50 with 80 grains Pyrodex and unpatched lubed miniball. (also 3 inches left, but that will be a sight adjustment) I have some .490 balls and .015 patches, too. Haven't shot them yet. Going to the range after work tomorrow...

Lyman Deerstalker loads?

Anyone have a starting point for me?
I am brand new to muzzleloaders. This Lyman is my first and I am working on a TC Hawken Kit.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Anybody hunting yet????

Our season started on the 13th.
I killed a small doe on the 17th with my Brackenbury Quest.
Looking for #2 but the moon and white oaks dropping EVERYWHERE have me struggling to find the deer.

Re: This morning's tuning shoot....

I'm shooting Easton LEGACY 2018s at 29 1/2", 160 grain points out of a 61# bow at my 27 1/2" draw.
They fly perfectly.
I believe your arrows are just too stiff.

Re: Your next bow?

If I buy another bow, it will most likely be one of Mike Treadway's reflex/deflex longbows.
They are smooth and fast; a joy to shoot. I'd like one in the 55 - 60 pound range around 58 inches long.
I think i would be a great treestand bow.

Re: Points For Small Game:: Name Yours

Ace hexheads here. Even a body shot on a squirrel is fatal with those.
The VPA heads look interesting.

Re: knife build along

I had recently bought Goddard's book, "The $50 Knife Shop" as I have always wanted to build a knife of my own. I just tend to procrastinate a great deal. This thread is an inspiration and I have learned a lot from it. The step-by-step build along explains a lot of what Goddard says in his book, but ...
