I made a back quiver for my son's upcoming birthday. It is made out of vegetable tan leather that I stained brown! I picked up Neat Lac to finish it but have no experience with it. Has anyone used Neat Lac before or is there a better way of finish/sealing the quiver??? Also will it darken the leather at all?
Thanks

After I stain my bags I apply one or two coats of kiwi shoe polish.
Rub it in good, let it set a minute then brush it.
If you dont brush it good it will come off on your clothes.

Thanks Tommy, I picked up some Montana Pitch Blend, have you ever used it for your stuff?? I'm hoping I can just use this over the dye and be done with it..

I use neatsfoot oil followed by mink oil. Most all think of this nature will further darken the leather.

Montana Pitch Blend is a mixture of all natural stuff. It has Pine Pitch, Mink Oil and Beeswax! I have heard a lot of Trad guys use this stuff. I picked it up at a Horse TacK Shop! Its supposed to let the leather breathe because of no silicon or petroleum products! After I buffed out the leather from the Dye I applied it, it did darken the leather but I took this into consideration with the Dye, I used a light Brown!
Here is a pic of the rough draft...

Here is a pic from yesterday while fitting the bottom. I since took the entire quiver apart, finished the dye and applied the Pitch Blend. I'll post some more pics of the progress!

The quiver is beautiful.
Excellent craftsmanship.
I may have to try some pitch blend.
