Gulf Coaster Hobbies

Hi All;

Ken Hulme here on the Gulf Coast of Fl.

I live aboard my floating retirement home (26 ft Caribbean-capable sailboat with solar panels for 12v). So one "hobby" is boatkeeping -- all the piddly things that keep a boat shipshape, so that I wake up "on the dry side of the water".

I am also a Personal Chef in my copious free time :rolf: so cooking and developing recipes is a hobby as well as a way to fuel the ole body.

I also mess around with wood. In particular thin wood. Most especially wooden musical instruments like Mountain Dulcimers and a variety of Psalteries and Lyres. And bows, of course. Like the one in my Avatar photo. I'm currently trying to master (in wood and glass) the extreme curves of the Scythian style bows from 2500 years ago.

What type of boat is that?

When I lived in Oregon and Alaska I had several sailboats; the largest was a 27' Catalina which we bought in Seattle and cruised up to Ketchikan. The idea was to have something my wife and I could stay on when I was out in the field with the survey crew for the Tongass National Forest. Then I quit the Forest Service and we sold the boat to pay for adoption of our youngest son.

Now I have a 12' sailboat of indeterminate make which I traded a canoe for, but have yet to take it out. Maybe this year!
