WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
If got a few bows but for hunting this year and just for general target and small game hunting is gonna be my Ron Foley longbow.Rf/Df 60" and 50# @28. God this bugger shoots sweet. Feels so good in hand hardly any hand shock at all. Put on beaver balls and a selway quiver and it's virtually silent. Osage riser with actionboo front and back. Clear glass. Mr.Foley know how to make a bow! I'll figure out how to post pics on here and I will

Boodan-
Everybody and anybody that answers this (and I hope many will) will have a different bow for a different reason.
It is a great question though. So here's mine.
57# @ 27" custom made for me, Northern Mist Baraga 2 piece longbow. This is my summer shooter (getting ready for hunting season) and my hunting bow (duh!) This bow is my go to tool. It spends 2 weeks with me in Northern Ontario moose hunting and has been raked against many a tree trying to make a bull mad. Been in and out of canoes and boats countless of times. I've also carried it in my area of Michigan's U.P. deer hunting, stumping and what ever.
I gave up trying to keep it looking pretty long ago. I don't abuse it, I just use it.

One stick, one string. What more does a guy need? Oh yeah, and something that makes LOTS of smoke when you pull the trigger!
Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
Great bow man! Yea I understand using it as a tool. Makes alot of sense. Their not gonna stay pretty forever if your using then for what there intentions.

Real McCoy three piece longbow made by Andy McCoy of Bezaleel Bowworks. I have two sets of limbs at 56# & 63#. Same specs otherwise. It is handy being able to use the same strings for both limbs and not having to adjust to a different grip.
Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
I have a longbow that was made for me by a good friend, red elm and rosewood with skins, that I just seem to pick up every time. I've shot a grouse with it and stuck a black bear but didn't find him. I've been trying to stick some grey squirrels and whitetail with it.
my goal has been to kill something with it then go to the next bow I have and kill something with it. technically I have killed something with it and should go to the next bow but I keep picking it up.
I have a Prairie to Plains longbow a friend gave me, an A-Mag Bear take-down and a Bear Grizzly waiting in line.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
It's been a BBO named " LilRed" given to me by Ralph Renfro , shot a doe with it using a stone point I made but being the last weekend of rifle season and all the pressure around me from the gun hunters the deer were extremely nervous and she dropped down when I released the arrow and I hit her in the shoulder on a big bone , arrow didn't break the bone and did not penetrate very deep , she is still taunting me staying out of range now , she even comes in my yard at night eating my honeysuckle .
I have a habit of taking any bow that I'm working on our hunting as quick as I get it to where I can shoot it , even got an armadillo with the trade bow I'm working on for the OSS banquet .

Striker bows TDL 50 # @28" With ash shafts I make and 160 gn. grizzlies. That is definitely my preferred go to bow and set up. It covers me from squirrel to deer here in ohio.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
Presently I have one bow, my first. It is a old Darton recurve 44# @ 28, 56", not a bad little bow.
I have not shot it as much as I would like, and have not taken it afield yet. Compared to the longbow I had priorly shot I cannot make my recurve group very well, yet
I had borrowed the famed "Trav" from our esteemed Greywolf, and let me say that is one sweet, easy shooting bow. I would rather be shooting Trav then my present bow, prefer Longbows over recurves now. When I bought this one I had never shot a recurve so I had no idea of the difference in how they shoot.
My goal is to have Greywolf help me build my own Trav along with all my own equipment.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
I have two.
1. Firefly takedown longbow. 50@28.
2. Hoyt Buffalo recurve. I have a set of 45 and 50 pound limbs for this one. The only reason this one is number 2 is it gets hard to hold in cold weather.

Fedora sickle for me. Lends itself to my short stature and shooting style.
I like my Wagner longbows and Martin Mambas as well. Longbow for fishing and mambas for 3D.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
Depends....mostly on the hunt terrain - But all time fave has to be my "60's Vintage" Ben Pearson 66" Javalina 50@28.
When I'm in scrub brush, or bushwhacking cross country through steep and mountainous stuff, something shorter is easier to maneuver, and better for squeezing through the tight spots.... like one of my Bear Grizzly s. I tend to grab one of them often on walks up on the mountain.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
I just got a Stalker Stickbows catalogue in the mail with my TB magazine. That Coyote longbow is a beauty, I'm sure it's a fine shooter. Hopefully, come October I'm shooting a BBO that Ralph (KsBow) helped me glue up last June. (Well, Ralph did most of the work.) I've just got to get through a surgery next month, get my strength back, then finish the BBO.

Bamabows Tribute 68 inch 60@28 walnut riser, curly maple limbs.
Re: WHAT IS YOUR GO TOO BOW?
Mine is a selfbow of my own making. Osage, 52" 53# at 27" or something similar, or a bbo, or a sinew backed, or something off the wall that hasn't killed anything yet. They all need a chance to spill some blood.

For the last 16 years I have had 2 Go too Bows. Both Selfbows I made myself from Brigalow which is a common Australian Acacia Tree. The shorter wider Bow is my favourite Hunting Bow 63" ntn 54# and the longer Bow is my favourite Target Bow 76"ntn and 42#. I'd love a $ for every Arrow these Bows have Shot.

regards Jacko
