Re: lets see your smokepoles!
Here's (if I posted correctly) my favorite deer rifle; a TVM Lancaster .45 with 36" barrel. It has accounted for both deer and squirrels. It's a joy to tote in the woods with it's light weight.

Other two favorites: TVM EV .50 x 42" (top) and my TVM Southern Mountain .36 x 38".

Re: lets see your smokepoles!
Target fired at 50 yards with the EV. I was sitting on an apple crate, unsupported (a field position). Group is 5 shots 1.25". With this rifle such groups are frequent even from offhand. The muzzle heaviness & heft of this rifle allows me to shoot it better than any of my others. 60 grains 3f, pillow ticking patch.

Re: lets see your smokepoles!
WOW great rifles everyone!!!!
Here's ole Nelly my .50cal TC Hawken, it shoots round balls ok but found out it loves the 370gr. Maxi Balls best after my R.E.A.L bullet problem.
Going to try the TC Maxi Hunter next.
Works for now till I can save up for an early lancaster.

TVM always has a pretty rifle!

Re: lets see your smokepoles!
Correct. It appears to be a very popular style and due to the wide, flat butt, is easy on the shoulder even in big calibers. The stock makes a nice smoothie platform too.Lance Coleman wrote:purdy purdy PURDY!!

Re: lets see your smokepoles!
been lookin at the early virginias. didn;t know if the heavy butt section would off balance it or not. Thats what I was told that the plate was deisgned for bigger calibers and made it more apealing to shoot.
