Rendezvous 2015 in The Books

Postby KsBow » Sun Jun 21, 2015 6:29 pm

Another "Family Reunion"....er...OSS Rendezvous is in the books. We had amazing weather, Wonderful food, time to visit, time to help others with bows, time for me, Mikee, and John to install some brake pads on my truck. Time to chase down and capture 1/2 a bow backing in the form of a beautiful copperhead. (Nice eyes Dianne).

Pond was full finally. No real mud problems. Targets layed out so we could shoot them from open areas with plenty of air.
Had plenty of time to get a lot of business taken care of for the upcoming year. Next big thing on the agenda is the Expo in September. Trade bow deadline with occur during the Expo. Make sure you contact Jason Grace with your entry and specs.

All in all, it was a great time to renew friendships and make new ones. We definitely have a good thing going.

Special thanks to Billy Moore for supplying the fish and to all who helped cook it up and who chipped in with a great pot luck dinner. Thanks to Leslie for donating another pond cured piece of osage to my work shop and some great swirl dipped arrows. Only thing that'll make em prettier is some blood on them in November. :applaud:

To all those who said thanks for the fish you're welcome , I hope you enjoyed eating them as much as I did catching them .
We did not get to the Kentucky Coffee tree wood this weekend , maybe we can tackle it at the wildlife expo later .
Yes Ralph , we did have nice weather , got a little warm but we had a breeze , mosquitos , ticks ( two kinds of ticks for me , my 60" mollie lifted a splinter , I'll fix that later) and gnats were bad at times .
Yes Dianne you do have a great set of eyes , it was getting late and kinda dark when you spotte the copperhead , when Dianne said snake we started getting up out of our chairs but when we heard copperhead we picked up the pace , a 2x4 a stick and a sharp knife and we got a clean skin , thanks Ralph , I'll try to get the shortollie skinned and bring it to the expo .

Life in general relegated me to Saturday only at Rendezvous this year. I don't remember a time when we had a better potluck dinner. My thanks to all who made a contribution to our meal Saturday evening. I wish I could have spent more time with everyone, but that will have to wait for another day.
A group of our members are going on a bear hunt that I was interested in, but they said I couldn't go! :( I'm not sure if it's a lack of social skills, outdoor skills or my looks, but I'm looking for a personal coach to improve my prospects of getting invited on the next hunt. If you can help, please contact me for an interview.

Thanks,

Now Gary you know your looks AND your reputation have a lot to do with it. We have to cross the border into Canada and with you along, they might not let us in. And if we do get into Canada, I'm dang sure the US border guards would take one look at you, the white bearded desperado, and use you as an excuse to keep the rest of us from getting back into the US and back home!

It may have more to do with Gary's trusty sidekick, the greatest Black Squirrel Hunter of the world.

Gary, when you find that coach, perhaps he can make it a Classroom type seminar. There are others that didn't get invited either. :applaud:

Yeah, Chris, you're probably right about the sidekick theory! :D

Ralph, that's a good idea, but I haven't had any offers yet. Maybe we should just put together our own hunting party and go to Maine, just in case Mike is on to something, which I rather doubt. Yancy says Maine is a great bear destination.

Well guys I can't hang out with ya no more. My buddy Leslie gave me some purty swirly arras and I put points on them today but they're so pretty I'm afraid some of you jealous ugly arrow shooters not to be Named (Tim) might start targeting them. Waiting for it to cool down so I can see how they shoot. Alex

I gave Ralph the arrows that were more like camouflage..........you can't loose an arrow in Kansas ......I heard you can stand on a snuff can and watch a dog run away for 5 miles.....

Leslie, you've been listening to the fly over folks. I can take you to places where you lungs, legs and back will be aching real fast. Several little "rises" that you'd be hard pressed to make it to the top without a "pause for the cause". BTW it's supposed to be a 5 gallon bucket, not a snuff can. lol :applaud:

A-Rod, many of them have root balls that are more than 5 feet in the air. All the blown over trees that still are alive have a jungle of new growth coming off the trunks.....impassable!! :campfire:

Well someone needs to convert some of those limbs into hackberry bows huh uncle Ralph. Cause you know my buddy Johnbow ain't getting no taller, but as light as he is he can probally hang a stand off the limbs. Mikee/Tommy will half ta cut them a hole in the thicket. :rolf: Alex

Crazy thing is...hackberry rots down faster than anything on my place. All of them are well past utilizing for anything other than an accelerant to burn my woods down. And don't be pickin on my little buddy. He can't help being gravitationally challenged.
