Hey-WAKE UP OUT THERE

Postby KsBow » Fri Aug 07, 2015 7:55 pm

Hey OSS members, Wake up out there. Hunting season ain't that far away. Build some arrows, a last minute new selfbow. Shoot some targets. Do some scouting. Look for snakes. Sharpen some blades. Redo some old junk arrows, make em pretty again. Double check your fanny packs. Take care of your hunting gear, sharpen knives, New batteries in flashlights.
I know it's hot but that's no excuse to not visit with your buddies on this forum.
I canned 12 quarts of Spaghetti Sauce today. I also pulled the pipe on my well. Replacing a footvalve that had lost the strainer. Bailed some sand out of the bottom of the pipe. Now we'll pump lots of cold water for more pics.

Alright Ralph,
Give me your opinion on these arrows just completed for our trip to the north country.
Looking forward to launching these traditional points that Clint built. However, I've got to admit that I'm a little apprehensive. Look at these beauties! Clint's work are the three on the right. Can you bkame me for being a little squeamish about tying these to the end of a stick and sending them on their way towards some fur-bearing critter who just might not want to give 'em back. It's not like these are available by the dozen cause he makes them generally only for some special cause like banquet auction, etc. If he ever figures out just what kind of quality he's producing, we'll never be able to afford them.

Other than that, I just added a honey super to my stronger bee hive, and hope to be making a withdrawal from my busy little friends in a few weeks. Put up all sorts of plum jelly AND jam, and the apple and pear trees are pulled to the ground with fruit.

By-the-way Ralph, I see you're sneaking across the state line to use your game camera again. I think there is some photo poaching law against that so watch out! Our good friends in green with the badges take a dim view of that sort of thing.

Shoot Doc, I'm thinking any of em will cut hair and hide. Give it a go. Ole Clinter does make a fine point. Killed my first stone kill with one of his heads. Kansas is behind the times and only let us start using stone not that long ago. You sound like one of the bee keepers in the Bee Movie. Don't be getting sued by Jerry Seinfield. BTW Good luck up north, may you have a good one show up and mill around in front of you long enough for a perfect shot. :campfire:

Sorry Ralph , I drowned my phone a couple weeks ago on our last fishing trip and have my old phone going till.I get a new one in , this old phone is very slow and the signal isn't very good.

We've been crack sealing the last couple of weeks and I've been too wore out and hot to work on anything.
Tim called lastnight and the OSS has been asked to go to an event at Bellcow lake on Aug 22 and I plan on being there.

Hey Ralph, it is right next to our new Bell Cow Substation. Just built a new line next to the lake.
It is about 1 mile North and 3 mile West of Chandler.
Nice lake.

The dog and I just finished running the weed eater, mowing and putting fertilizer down so I mow more than once a week.
I think after I cool down I will grill some chicken and veggies.
Working on some cedar shafts inside where it's cool for this fall.
I set up one of my glass longbows with some arrows with broadheads for one of the guys at work. He drew one of the hunts at McAlester Ammunition Depot in Oct. He had an old recurve that was 45# but it sure didn't shoot well. He is a couple of inches taller than me and young so I set him up with a 54# longbow and some magnus heads. He is shooting pretty good with three under. If a deer gets within 15 or 20 yds, he should be able to score.

It is a nice little lake ( rough in a kayak if the skiers are out) , the owner of a sporting store/pawn shop is putting on some kind of outdoor event and asked Tim if some of the OSS members could come out and set up for the day , been thinking and I might put some copperhead skins on my mollie bow that day , folks aught to like that .

Pulled the Dodge deisel head back off for my dad this morning , got a fire meeting today then might go check on some of the elderberry patches .
