Re: Couple of Prayers....Surgery results 1 June

Post by Greywolf » Fri May 28, 2010 9:56 pm

The test results came back with good and bad news

First the good news, Both Lymph Nodes were clear for cancer, so no further removal is necessary,
Now for the bad

There are more areas of cancer. We will be back Tuesday morning for a larger lumpectomy, the "Margins were not clean" which means the cancer area is/was larger than she thought. When she gets to "clean Margins" (no more cancer) then we can start radiation in about a month.

From what I understand these areas didn't even show up on a Mammogram.

The fight continues........

Mark,

Tell the alpha female to hang in there and keep strong! Continued prayers and thoughts and hoping more good news is coming.
Count it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

She was in for about an hour and a half, Surgeon said she hopes the margins will be clean this time. but she's home, little more pain than the last time. but resting quietly and confortably right now, but might be a whole different story after the Morphine wears off tonight.

We have to wait till Thursday or Friday again for the results.

We thank you for your support and prayers...

Little humorus story, she was walking slow into the bedroom, I helped her get comfortable, fluffing pillows, getting her Ice water close, turned on the Tv, adjusting the shades so not too much light would come in. she rolled over on her side and said thank you with a smile, then said come here... so I bent down, expecting to hear how great of a guy I have been and she softly said.... please rewire the light in the breakfast nook, the light flickers now.......... Uh...yeah... love you too dear.

Re: Couple of Prayers. FINAL SURGERY 27 July

Post by Greywolf » Thu Jun 24, 2010 1:11 am

Aloha Everyone

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. But things are kinda hectic.

The Dr's wanted to do a MRI to see if it showed anything more, well it did, so the decision has been made to do a double Mastectomy on 27 July. she will have reconstructive surgery right after the mastectomy, as a matter of fact one Dr will be on each side and switch when each is finished doing their part. the hospital stay will be 3-5 days depending what happens. the MRI showed a "hot Spot" in the other side as well (whatever a hotspot is) as well as another area of concern in the lower quadrant too.
So we have a month to wait, it's going to be rough. We'll have to hire some help because she will be down for a month. then the reconstruction process is nine months long ( 2 surgeries during that time) before it's finished completely.

I try to keep telling myself she'll be cancer free afterwards but that seems like a 1,000 miles away right now.
So depending how you see the cup, it's either half full or half empty.

Mahalo for the thoughts and prayers.

Well, the day has arrived, she goes in tomorrow morning. they are going to perform a a double mastectomy. they have her scheduled for 5-7 hours to do the operation and reconstruction at the same time.
She should be able to come home hopefully on Saturday if all goes well.

No kind of preparation can prepare you for things like this, it's always on your mind, in some shape or form.
Due to a death in my bosses family I'll be off work all week, so I will be able to be there more than I expected, so with the bad thing comes a good thing. (Hope that made sense)

Thank you for the support, thoughts and prayers.

I'll keep you informed

Aloha and Mahalo Nui Loa

Mark wanted me to let you know that they appreicated all of your prayers and thoughts during this time. He also said he was about to go crazy in that waiting room.

if I hear anything else, I will get you an update.

Mahalo eddie

Well I spent 14 hrs at the hospital today and Alpha Female spend 7 full hours under anesthesia, with her surgery and reconstruction procedure.

I ask if they would come and get me when she first went to the recovery room, I wanted to be able to tell her the amount of progress I saw and have experienced.
When I looked inside the curtain that first time, I honestly expected to look up at the monitor and see it flat line at any time. I turned and went back to the waiting room where I spent the next 2.5 hours waiting
She didn't want me to see her in her condition. And no I didn't tell her I already had.

When I left the hospital room, she was sitting up(supported by pillows) and her eyes were clear and had life again. But her pain level was still 8-9 on a scale of 10, this with a steady Morphine drip and a chaser buttom to push every 10 minutes to "add" a little extra.

The hospital Dr came in after a couple of hours and talked with me, he said Mr K this is rock bottom! only improvement from here on.
Finally she kicked me out and made me come home, but before Iwalked out she smiled and said "Tell all your guys I said Thank you"

So everyone, Thank you from the very bottoms of our hearts for the thoughts and prayers.

3-5 day stay and she'll be home..... till then it's me and the dog.
